Landsberg am Lech

Landsberg am Lech

The exceptionally well-preserved old town is bursting with joie de vivre. There are cozy cafés, small stores to browse and inviting restaurants on every corner. Historic buildings are not a backdrop here, but a lively part of the colorful city life. The most beautiful building on the square is undoubtedly the historic town hall by Dominikus Zimmermann. The mighty town church, numerous colorful town houses and medieval fortifications are just a few other reminders of the town's rich history. Thanks to the right to levy a salt tax, Landsberg achieved considerable prosperity in the early 14th century. However, the location on the Lech offers many other advantages. How about a canoe tour or a round of stand-up paddling? Or a visit to a beer garden right on the Lech? From there, it's just a stone's throw to the Lech floodplains. Children love the free-roaming fallow deer in the "Pössinger Au" and hikers and cyclists love the numerous routes and paths.
