A PHILOSOPHICAL FILM WITH A GREAT PLOT

This trail inspires in many ways. The Philosophers' Trail near Garmisch-Partenkirchen is neither long nor difficult. It offers the best views of the Zugspitze and neighboring peaks, leads past interesting stations and also has benches with quotes from famous philosophers. A path to relax and reflect, which you can also do on your own. You will never get bored here. The path, which runs along the edge of the village from Partenkirchen to Farchant, is also cleared in winter.

The running direction is usually from Partenkirchen northwards to Farchant. However, the reverse direction south with mountain views also has its charm. The stylish start is at the St. Anton monastery complex. To do this, walk from Ludwigstraße in the center of Partenkirchen via Sonnenbergstraße and St. Anton-Straße towards the monastery. A short detour to the monastery church is worthwhile if only for the frescoes from the early 18th century, which are well worth seeing. The trail runs through the forest, occasionally passing open passages with beautiful views of Garmisch-Partenkirchen including the Zugspitze and Alpspitze.

Along the Loisach to Farchant

At about the height of the Wankbahn cable car near the Schützenhaus, the path turns right and continues northwards to the banks of the Loisach and Farchant. The Philosophenweg ends at the edge of the village. Via Esterbergstraße, the trail continues over the Loisach and into the center of Farchant. You can return to Partenkirchen by local bus. Still in the mood for hiking in nature? Just before the Loisach bridge in Farchant, the path branches off to the right to the forest adventure trail and the spectacular Kuhfluchtwasserfälle waterfalls. Guided hikes are also offered for the Philosopher's Trail.
