5 winter activities away from the slopes in Upper Bavaria

Winter

Winter is getting closer and closer and we are eagerly awaiting the first snow with a cup of hot chocolate. Skiing is at the top of the agenda for many winter fans, big and small. But the cold season has a lot to offer even without a "board". Here are 5 winter activities away from the slopes that are just as much fun!

Here you will find inspiration for active breaks in Upper Bavaria - it's best to start planning now...

Relaxed winter hiking

This activity is undoubtedly at its best when there is snow. But the vast nature in Upper Bavaria offers the ideal setting for a winter hike even without a white coat. Many paths are also accessible in the cold season and most regions have special winter routes in their program, which are even cleared when it snows - for example in Berchtesgaden.

If you like hiking in the snow, you will also get your money's worth on a snowshoe hike. Individually adaptable to your level of experience and fitness, you can go on wonderful tours in the snowy winter forest in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, among other places - also with a guide!

Trail magic

When Mother Hulda shakes her beds, winter sports offer many opportunities to try them out. You should definitely give cross-country skiing a try, for example. Head to the nearest trail and glide relaxed over the groomed snow. Ruhpolding is considered THE cross-country skiing destination par excellence, whether you are a beginner or an enthusiast.

Winter fun tobogganing

No matter what age: tobogganing is always fun! The Blomberg near Bad Tölz, for example, is a wonderful place for tobogganing after you have taken the chairlift to the middle station and thus the start of the toboggan run. The toboggan run is illuminated every Saturday from 7 pm to 10 pm. It starts as soon as it is cold enough.

Ice skating

Fairytale-like: a frozen lake surrounded by snow-covered forests. However, if you want to skate in this picturesque setting, the ice should be thick and resilient. The fun on blades is safe and independent of the temperature at the Municipal Ice and Fun Sports Center East in Munich: An artificial outdoor ice rink gives you the feeling of being in the great outdoors!

Our outdoor activities collection, including a winter sports report on the ski resorts, also provides plenty of ideas for fun in the snow. And if the weather doesn't want to play along, there are also great activities under cover!

We wish you an eventful winter time in Upper Bavaria!
