Visit to Florianiplatz in Bad Reichenhall
The historic old town of Bad Reichenhall is well worth a visit, especially in winter. Bad Reichenhall's Florianiplatz is original and romantic with its gabled houses and typical Alpine flair. Together with the Sebastiani quarter and the medieval defensive wall from the 13th century, this quarter is one of the oldest in the Alpine town. The houses were the only ones to be spared by the great town fire of 1834, and so visitors are presented with the characteristic image of an old Bavarian village square. Once home to coopers, coppersmiths and dyers, today artists, craftsmen, clothiers and florists invite you to visit their workshops and stores. While lingering in one of the cozy guest gardens, you can feel the spirit of the past.

Descend into mystical depths to the Alpine brine healing spring - The Old Salt Works
The two 13-metre-high, 15-tonne water wheels in the main well house of the Old Salt Works, which have been in permanent operation since 1850, are an expression of German engineering. There are 72 steps down to the main grotto of the Old Salt Works, to the historic salt springs that have made Bad Reichenhall so famous. A little mysticism is always part of the tour through the winding tunnel system. The temperature here is +12°C all year round. In winter in particular, it can be warmer underground than outside. A great excursion tip for visitors of all ages!

Lake Thumsee - icy cold and fantastically beautiful
Get out to Lake Thumsee! The magical snow-covered landscape invites you to take a walk around the lake. The view of the glistening, crystal-clear mountain lake is tranquil, almost meditative. Every now and then you can see brave Bad Reichenhall locals meeting here for a winter swim. And afterwards, you can warm up at the Seewirt.

Round chocolate to combat the winter blues - Made in Bad Reichenhall
Who doesn't know the world-famous Reber Mozartkugeln? But who also knew that the headquarters of this traditional company is located right in Bad Reichenhall? The café in the pedestrian zone, decorated entirely in "Reber red", is a popular meeting place for indulging in sweet delicacies.

Tobogganing fun with floodlights
The Bergkurgarten in Bayerisch Gmain is particularly popular with younger visitors in winter - because this is where the toboggan run starts, which is fun for the whole family. Especially because it doesn't have to end at dusk. This is because the 600-metre-long run is floodlit. The ascent takes around 15 minutes and then it's downhill at speed! Great fun in Bayerisch Gmain!
