BEER & MANHOLE

A brewery tour in the Mittenwald Brewery means taking a look behind the scenes. The most important thing about a brewery tour is of course the beer tasting. You can experience this in the historic cellars with a view of the old brewing machines and the historic wooden barrels with tapping station. If you wish, you can take the brewing test and dare to enter and exit through the manhole of a wooden mother barrel. This was the only way the brewers could clean their barrels and then refill them with fresh beer, which is still brewed up here from real mountain spring water - just like back then. After beer and a snack, the tour continues into the modern brewing rooms, where the brewing kettles gleam in front of an impressive Alpine panorama. Those who find it hard to tear themselves away from this beautiful backdrop can stay for lunch or dinner in the brewery's own restaurant, the "Postkeller". Perhaps you'll be invited to join in a little competition with the Fingerhakler - or take a detour to the violin-making museum in Ballenhausgasse.
